ELC Community Service

The Jamil Niner Food Pantry, located on the UNC Charlotte campus, addresses the needs of those experiencing food insecurity. ELC students are able to learn about the topic of food insecurity, how it impacts college students, and how their volunteer efforts can make a difference.

ELC students volunteer time at Promising Pages with the goal of increasing access to books for all students. Literacy and reading fluency have a large impact on educational progress. Some of the books sorted by ELC students will go directly to the classrooms of teachers to build their library and some will be donated to children individually.

Previous ELC community service projects include partnering with Kappa Delta Pi, the education honor society, to host a reading day for elementary students. ELC students have also served as math and reading tutors with Communities in Schools.
